The goal of this blog is to determine which is the best way to burn calories. Is it in the gym doing a regular workout with some cardio and some weights, doing a jog, Crossfit, or bootcamp. For good measure, I am also tracking my calorie burn during days where I am not working out to see what I burn in a regular day doing sedentary activities like working on my computer or reading a book.
As of May 22, 2011, I weight 149 lbs. I am 5' 6". I have an athletic build.
I use a Sportline Duo Heart rate monitor watch with a chest belt to track my heart rate and calorie burn. This is one of the most accurate ways to monitor calorie burn. Keep in mind that everyone is different, so you may burn more or less calories than I do attempting a similar experiment. The idea here is to use a scientific approach to understanding the effects of various work outs from a caloric perspective on an individual.
